What is a Family Feud classroom game?

A Family Feud classroom game is the TV show format adapted for school: students split into teams, the teacher reads a survey-style question (e.g., "Name a part of an animal cell"), and teams race to guess the top-ranked answers. Points go up, strikes pile on, the winning team takes the round.

It works because it does what a review worksheet can't: every student is leaning in, watching, debating, learning from each other. Wrong answers become teachable moments instead of red marks.

Which grade levels and subjects does it work best for?

Family Feud classroom games work for every grade from K through 12, with the strongest fit in grades 3–12. Younger grades can play with simplified rules (one team at a time, no strikes). Older grades enjoy the full TV format with Fast Money rounds.

Best subjects: science (vocabulary-heavy), social studies (people, places, events), ELA (literary devices, vocab, parts of speech), world languages (themed vocab), and any course with an end-of-unit review.

Do I need any equipment to run it in my classroom?

No special equipment. You need a projector or smartboard to display the host view, and students need any browser-capable device (Chromebook, iPad, phone) to join via QR code. That's it.

If your school has 1:1 devices, every student can buzz in individually. If not, one device per team works perfectly — same game, same energy.
